Lyra, I Love:

Lyra, I've written an entire blog about myself, but really, it's all been about you and for you.

I've been writing about my experiences in the past tense because it's taken me a long time to write everything down and organise my thoughts. But now I'm up to date and we are in April. Spring is in the air. Days are getting warmer and longer. Blossom is appearing on the trees, I'm seeing pairs of magpies everywhere (two for joy!) and soon I'll take you to the farm to see the lambs.

I don't know how much longer it will take me to fully recover, but I do know that you keep me going through every day.

My entire life has shifted; you are the center of my world now. And I wouldn't change a thing.

So, this post is for you. Despite everything I've been through, I would do it all again. You are so worth it.

Lyra, I love:

the way you grab your foot and swing it about wildly when I breastfeed you.

the way you grab my hand and hold it against your face when you're feeding.

the way you scritch and scratch the chair with your hand (and scare the life out of me!) when you're feeding.

how much laughter you have - especially when you are fresh out of the bath and you wriggle and giggle just for the sheer joy of it.

your arm thumps - you are a little Thumper!

the way you nestle your head into my armpit when you fall asleep.

the way you fall asleep with your hand curled around the cot bar. At the moment, you will only fall asleep for me.

the way you try to catch my eye when you're trying to avoid falling asleep because you know it will make me laugh and buy you a few more precious seconds of awake time.

your smell. I wish I could bottle it. Sometimes I'll just sit and cuddle you and smell you. Do other mothers do that? I don't care if it's just me.

your beautiful blue eyes. Where did you get them from? Mine are brown and your dad's are green...

your smile. Lyra the smiler - I've never known such a happy and joyful baby. You've got me through even the toughest of days.

being your mummy.
